Raised Garden Beds (For Women and Non-Binary Makers) April 20th 10:00-3:00
Want to learn how to make custom raised garden beds? In this workshop you will learn how to make a raised bed using a blind dado cut to join the corners of your garden. The size is customizable but within a 4' x 4' square with a max height of 16.5" off the ground. Class will cover design, wood pros & cons, construction, and assembly. We will also discuss how to preserve the wood for longevity. Each student will have create a garden bed frame that can be flat-packed and easily moved home by car.
There are two material options for this project based on financial needs:
CEDAR -naturally the best wood for outdoor projects due to the oils that protect the wood from rot and insects. $130 material fee
SPRUCE & FIR- affordable and not pressure treated so it is safe to grow in. It will not last as long but can hold up for many years outdoors. $65 material fee.
10:00-3:00 with 1/2 hr lunch

Please come with a size in mind within the range of 4'x 4'x 16.5" (example 2' x 6' x 16.5" or 3' x 5' x 16.5"). Wear closed toed shoes and avoid dangly clothing.
