November 4, 11, 18, 25 (Monday's)
Plus Open Shop Tuesdays for extra work time
$225.00 + materials fee ($10-20 depending on wood choices)
In this workshop, students will learn several basic box-making techniques using both hand and machine tools. This multi-week course features daily technical demonstrations and work time with one-on-one instruction. We will start with the basics of milling lumber with the jointer and planer and cover machine-cut joinery such as splined-mitres as well as simple hand tool joinery such as finger joints. We will also explore design embellishments and essential finishing techniques. There will be two introductory-level boxes available to reproduce and more advanced students are encouraged to bring their own simple box designs to discuss.
Students are strongly encouraged to have already taken PowerTools 101 or have some woodshop experience.
