Bandsaw Box (For Women and Non-binary Makers) Feb 16 & 17
In this two-day workshop, students will learn how to build a small hardwood box made using only the bandsaw. Starting from a solid block of wood, bandsaw boxes utilize simple construction techniques to create boxes of curved and unique shapes. This technique allows for creative expression as the design possibilities are nearly unlimited.
Students will have several varieties of wood to choose from and will design and build their own small boxes. After a review of safety and equipment, students will draw out their boxes and cut them out on the bandsaw. After gluing pieces and leaving to dry overnight, students will sand and finish the boxes on day two. We will spend a short time on day two covering decorating and finishing techniques.
